What the receiver must do, and who receives first.

  1. a
    The receiver must let the ball bounce in the receiving box and hit it before it bounces a second time.
    You cannot volley a serve.
  2. b
    In the first game of each set the receiving pair decides who receives first. That player receives the first point of every game for the rest of the set.
  3. c
    The receivers alternate during the game. The order can change only at the start of a new set.
  4. d
    If the receivers swap by mistake, they keep the altered order until the end of that game or tie-break, then go back to the original.
  5. e
    If the serve hits the receiver or the receiver's racket before bouncing, the server wins the point.
    Even if the serve was clearly going long.
